They know every page by heart. They finish the sentences before you get to them. Some nights you skip a paragraph to get to lights-out faster — and they catch you every time.
Meanwhile the hero is always someone else. A different name, a different face, a different kid entirely. Your child has never once opened a book and found themselves inside it.
Here’s how to change that by bedtime:
Build their character
Pick their hair, eyes, skin and outfit. That’s who stars in the book.
Add what they love
Type one line — “sleeps with a panda called Bao Bao”. We draw it in.
Read it tonight
The book is written and illustrated in about two minutes. Their name is on the cover.
Made for the ten minutes before sleep.
Written for their age
Ages two to eight, three reading levels. Fewer words and bigger pictures for the little ones; real paragraphs and gentle plot twists for confident readers.
Their things, in the pictures
Photograph the panda they cannot sleep without, or the dog, or your front door. We draw it into the art, so the book is unmistakably theirs.
We never ask for their photo
The hero is an illustrated character you build from choices you tap — hair, eyes, the outfit they would pick. Nothing in littlelore asks for a picture of your child.

- What ages is it for?
- Two to eight. There are three reading levels and the right one is chosen from your child’s age — one short sentence a page for the littlest, real paragraphs and a gentle plot twist for a confident reader.
- How long does a book take?
- A couple of minutes. The story is written first and the pictures are painted page by page after it, so you can start reading while the later illustrations are still arriving.
- Do you upload photos of my child?
- No — we never ask for one. Your child’s character is illustrated from choices you make — hair, eyes, skin, the outfit they would pick — and nothing in the product asks for a picture of them. You can add photos of up to three things from their world, though: the rabbit they sleep with, the dog, your front door. We ask you to photograph things rather than people, and we draw each one into the book.
- Is it a printed book?
- Today it’s a digital picture book you read together on any screen — phone, tablet or computer. There’s nothing to wait for: a book is ready a couple of minutes after you make it, and it stays on your bookshelf to read again whenever you like. We’re working on a real hardcover — your child’s book, printed and posted to you — which we expect to offer as an optional extra rather than as part of the subscription. It isn’t for sale yet, and we haven’t set a price.
- What does it cost?
- $9.99 a month, or $79 a year with the first seven days free — the free week is on the annual plan, the monthly one has no trial. Ten books a month either way, and every book you have made stays readable for ever, subscribed or not. Cancelling is a link in your receipt email. You can read a whole sample book without an account.
